Audio Transcription, Digital Transcription and Tape Transcription, London, UK – W.B. Gurney and Sons
One of the oldest companies in the UK, W.B Gurney and Sons LLP is the oldest company of verbatim reporters in the world. We were formed in 1735 in London, though in the last half century since diversified into audio transcription, tape transcription and now, digital transcription. Though our company has diversified more into audio transcription, it was a form of shorthand alphabet which revolutionised our company. This consolidated our position as verbatim reporters, with the likes of Charles Dickens and Isambard Kingdom Brunel adopting our version of shorthand, predating Pitman’s by 87 years. Our staff are able to undertake audio transcriptions with a 100% accuracy goal. Be it written or audio transcription, paper or on digital transcription, our staff are accustomed to working under extreme pressure. This has seen us produce transcripts for the Houses of Parliament, commercial enterprises and other organisations. We have recorded many significant events, from the Trial of Queen Caroline (1820) to the Herald of Free Enterprise Zeebrugge Ferry Disaster (1987). If you are able to work under pressure and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy at the same time, we recruit full time, part time and freelance reporters. We can provide training in all aspects of audio transcription, digital transcription and tape transcription where applicable. Minimum shorthand/steno speed is 140wpm with transcription and Microsoft Word skills and a good standard of English essential. For more information, contact us at W.B Gurney and Sons LLP, Hope House, 45 Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 3LT. Telephone us on 0207 233 1935. We are close to St James’ Park and Westminster London Underground stations (Circle and District lines). Waterloo station is the nearest mainline railway station (change at Embankment).
